Drain CleaningHow to unblock a drain without using harsh chemicals or calling a plumber

Here’s a handy and safe way to unclog your drain using environmentally friendly household items. This method will help eliminate foul odours even if the drain is not blocked, and is worth doing from time to time as a preventative measure.¬†So the next time your drain is blocked don’t spend big bucks on a plumber, instead give this a try.

What you will need

  • 1 half cup of Baking Soda
  • 2 pots of boiling water
  • 1 cup of vinegar

Method

Pour a pot of ¬†boiling water into the drain to help loosen up the blockage. When the water has completely drained away pour in the baking soda followed by the vinegar and cover with the plug if you have one. This helps to keep the cleaning reaction below the drain line. Leave for 20-30 minutes then follow up with a final pot of boiling water to rinse out all the gunk that’s been clinging to the pipes.
